After a long train ride from Venice, they made it. And of course, the first thing we did was go out to see the Fontana di Trevi!

The kids loved all of the tiny cars in Rome, especially the Fiat 500 and the Smart cars!
After dinner, we introduced everyone to Italian gelato from Gioliti's. Yummmmmm....
A little sugar, and the kids were climbing the fences and the railings!
On our way back to the apartment, we stopped off at the Fontana di Trevi again so everyone could throw coins in the water. Hope this really means that we'll all come back!

We stopped for a quick outdoor lunch on our way to the Vatican.
After a long wait, we got to go up to the roof. What a view!
On the way back down, we stopped for a quick rest and a cup of coffee.
And we were all proud of Alexandra for working on her fear of heights. She even went back into the dome to take pictures for proof!
Inside St. Peter's Ethan examined all of the intricate floors.
By the time we got out, it was quite dark and Robin got to take some night shots of St. Peter's.
A gameboy! What a way to end a wonderful day.

First a morning walk through the old center of Rome, including a stop at the Pantheon.
First we walked down past the Imperial Forum. Hail Calvin! Hail Alexandra! Hail Caesar!
The it was off to see the Colosseum
The old marble made a wonderful playground for the kids.
Looking up a little background on ancient Rome.
And we found the best statues!
And finally, the long walk home.
